Search Help

The search feature can be used to find resources in the library and/or find Nobe-Ref members. To use the search function, enter a comma-separated list of search terms in the textbox and then click the "GO" button. The search terms do not have to be whole words and are not case-sensitive. For instance, entering "mex" will find resources that contain "Mexico", "Mexican", and other words that contain "mex" or "Mex".

OR Searches

Entering "government, global, Mexico" will return resources which contain the terms "government", "global" or "Mexico".

AND Searches

Entering "government, +global, Mexico" will return resources which contain either "government" or "Mexico" and must contain the term "global".

NOT Searches

Entering "government, -global, Mexico" will return resources which contain either "government" or "Mexico" and do not contain the term "global".

"Search By" Feature

The "Search By" feature can be used to search by keyword, by name, or by title. Keyword searches by name, title, and subject matter or research interests. Name/Author searches by author or member name. Titles searches by the title of the resource or the member's professional title.

"Search Within" Feature

The "Search Within" Feature can be used to return only printed resources, only electronic resources, only members, or to search within all resources and members.

Name/Author	All Resources	Printed and electronic resources in which the authors' names match the search terms, and members whose names match the search terms
Title	All Resources	Printed and electronic resources in which the title or series match the search terms, and members whose titles match the search terms

Keyword	Print Resources	Printed resources in which the authors' names, title, series, or subject matter match the search terms
Name/Author	Print Resources	Printed resources in which the authors' names match the search terms
Title	Print Resources	Printed resources in which the title or series match the search terms

Keyword	Electronic Resources	Electronic resources in which the authors' names, title, series, or subject matter match the search terms
Name/Author	Electronic Resources	Electronic resources in which the authors' names match the search terms
Title	Electronic Resources	Electronic resources in which the title or series match the search terms

Keyword	Member List	Members whose names, titles, cities, states, biographies, or research interests match the search terms. Note that states use initial format (i.e. TX instead of Texas).
Name/Author	Member List	Members whose names match the search terms
Title	Member List	Members whose titles match the search terms
